It’s the International Day of Happiness today, so we’re going to talk about why we love dogs.
First off, happy International Day of Happiness! (That’s apparently a thing.) We hope you had fantastic weather and good friends/family to spend the day with.
Since we’re a site called Dog O’Day, obviously we love dogs, and this seemed like a terrific time to talk about them, and more specifically, why we love them.
We love dogs because they’re loyal and always thrilled to see us in the morning.
We love dogs because of their adorable paws that look good on Instagram.
We love dogs because they guard us and their territory – especially from evil intruders like the UPS driver.
We love dogs because we sometimes wish we could be lazy and nap all day.
We love dogs because society tells us to, through movies, books and paintings, and sometimes even songs.
We love dogs because of their work in caring for their humans, if they have service or therapy training.
We love dogs because they’re really fun to play with, whether that be in the backyard playing fetch or competing in events like agility or flyball.
We love dogs because they can be useful in hunting birds or herding sheep or cattle. They can also be used to guard cattle or locations.
We love dogs because they can serve as extended family in times of need to the childless, the grieving.or the lonely.
We love dogs because they give young adults a chance to practice their parenting skills before they actually have real children.
We love dogs because they’ll (almost always) listen to our problems, and sometimes may even offer suggestions for how to fix it.
We love dogs because they brighten the internet through accounts like I’ve Pet That Dog, Thoughts of Dog and WeRateDogs.
We love dogs because they make wonderful characters, whether that be in mystery novels, picture books or movie franchises.
We love dogs because they connect us to lots of wonderful people out there in the world.
We love dogs because they give us a chance to talk with cool people who also love them, whether they be trainers, artists, actors or the actual smart puppers themselves.
We love dogs because of their cute noses.
We love dogs because they’re easy to draw.
There are far, far more reasons why we love dogs, but you get the picture by now. Hug yours for us, will you, please?
