For two nights, the Hallmark Channel reminded the world that rescue dogs are just as special as any other show dog thanks to the American Rescue Dog Show. And it was the categories that won us over.
Over Presidents’ Weekend, the world was treated to something very special thanks to the Hallmark Channel. Viewers were able to watch two nights of the American Rescue Dog Show, featuring dogs from across the country who were all rescue pups.
The show is hosted by Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn, with the actress being the “Adoption Ever After” ambassador for the Hallmark Channel, according to My News LA. The couple’s co-hosts are Larissa Wohl and Ross Mathews. Together, these four helped to bring us some of the cutest pups and the best categories we have ever been introduced to.
On Sunday night, viewers met the first half of the canine competitors. These rescue dogs competed in five categories. The two returning categories were Best in Senior Dog and the second was Best in Snoring. Then there were the three new categories, Best in Smiling, Best in Belly Rubs, and finally Best in Short ‘n Sweet.
Monday night of the American Rescue Dog Show gave us five more awesome categories, as well as an ultimate Best in Rescue for the winners of the 10 categories. For the second group of five categories, pups competed in Best in Talking, Best in Wiggle Butt, Best in Couch Potato, Best in Special Needs, and finally Best in Underbite.
Now, I don’t know about you, but these are definitely some of our favorite dog show categories ever created. And we have to give a lot of credit to categories like Best in Wiggle Butt, Best in Snoring, and Best in Couch Potato for giving us some of the most unique pups around. But, honestly, we could never choose a winner because every single pup in the competition is special and adorable.
With 71 dogs competing across all 10 categories, there were plenty of pups to appreciate and fall in love with. What makes the American Rescue Dog Show so important is that it helps bring attention to shelter dogs of all ages and needs. From puppies to senior dogs, and even dogs with disabilities and health problems, this is one dog show that has a message.
Not only does this program help bring awareness to the many dogs in shelters that need forever homes, but it also helps to fight against some of the common misconceptions that people have about dogs living in shelters. The American Rescue Dog Show is also a chance to offer resources to shelters and dogs in need, as well as pups who have been adopted.
Basically this is one show that we think deserves all the support and love it can get and we are here for not only the purpose of this dog show, but also the amazing categories that introduce us to these amazing pups.
