Tiffany Haddish’s Daisy stars in new Secret Life of Pets 2 trailer
Tiffany Haddish’s new character Daisy takes the spotlight in the newest trailer for “The Secret Life of Pets 2.”
There’s a new trailer out for The Secret Life of Pets 2, and this one focuses on a new character, Daisy the Shih Tzu, voiced by Tiffany Haddish.
Daisy requests the help of former gang leader Snowball the rabbit (Kevin Hart) in a rescue mission to save a very rare white tiger from a circus, while Snowball ignores her before transitioning into a special superhero-type suit as “Captain Snowball.”
It appears that this will be the main storyline of the sequel, and that the rest of the pets in the apartment complex from the first film will have to rescue Snowball after he agrees to help Daisy. This would make it likely that Daisy will be the antagonist of the film, as Shih Tzus are not an especially threatening breed.
Rabbits are not known for being especially vicious, either, though Snowball was the antagonist in the first movie, so it would follow the established pattern for the series if this was the case.
Haddish has worked with Hart before on 2018’s Night School, playing his tutor. She also has appeared in 2018’s Uncle Drew, starring Kyrie Irving of the NBA’s Boston Celtics, and music videos from Drake, Jay-Z and Todrick Hall.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 is from Illumination Entertainment, the same company behind the Despicable Me franchise and recent adaptions of the Dr. Seuss classics The Lorax and The Grinch, which boast some impressive names among their casts, including Steve Carell, Taylor Swift, Zac Efron and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Patton Oswalt (Rataouille, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Agents of SHIELD) will replace Louis CK as the voice of Max the Jack Russell Terrier. Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), Jenny Slate (Parks and Recreation, Gifted) and Ellie Kemper (The Office, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) will reprise their roles as Duke the mongrel, Gidget the Pomeranian and Katie the human, respectively.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 will release to theaters on June 7, 2019.
