Bowl season is nearly finished, which means the 2018 college football season is nearly done as well.

But as always, our pets were cheering on their favorite teams laying on the Noisy Box or on the radio from the comfort of the living room. That will continue as bowl season wraps up, and the dogs of Instagram were all ready for this traditional part of the holiday season.

As we’ve covered the dog-related schools in the NCAA Division I football scores each weekend, and we’ll finish things up with how they did during the bowl season.

It began on Saturday, December 15, as the Mountain West champion No. 21 Fresno State Bulldogs held off the Arizona State Sun Devils of the Pac-12, winning 31-20 in the Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl.

In the Cheribundt Boca Raton Bowl on Tuesday, December 18, the MAC champion Northern Illinois Huskies fell 37-13 to the UAB Blazers, winners of Conference USA.

Still, NIU’s mascot Mission enjoyed his Christmas and “howliday” break.

In the SoFi Hawaii Bowl, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs defeated the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors 31-14, in a matchup between former WAC members.

In the Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl, things were a little on the wild side of the canine family, as the Sun Belt Conference’s Arkansas State Red Wolves faced off against the Mountain West’s Nevada Wolf Pack. It went to overtime, but Nevada pulled out the victory by a 16-13 score.

The TaxSlaer Gator Bowl will also be very canine-centric, as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s North Carolina State Wolfpack will tussle with Reveille the Collie’s No. 19 Texas A&M Aggies from the Southeastern Conference. That game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Bauer the Golden Retriever (and his person) will definitely be watching that game.

On Tuesday, January 1, there will be the last handful of big games, all of which will air on ESPN or ESPN2.

The SEC’s No. 18 Mississippi State Bulldogs will face the Big Ten’s Iowa Hawkeyes in the Outback Bowl at noon ET.

The Pac-12 champs, the No. 9 Washington Huskies, will face the Big Ten champion No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual at 5 p.m. ET.

Finally, Uga’s No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, the SEC runner-ups, will face the Big 12 runner-ups in the form of the No. 15 Texas Longhorns during the Allstate Sugar Bowl at 8:45 p.m. ET.

For the third time in the past four years, the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide and the No. 2 Clemson Tigers will face each other for the national championship on Monday, January 7 at 8 p.m. ET. (The one year they didn’t, last season, they played in the College Football Playoff semifinals.)
