Episode 5 of Will Trent, "Breathe with Me," was definitely a very dark episode in a lot of ways. While it starts with what looks like a suicide leading to Faith moving into a new home, it leads to her mother being abducted. This was one of those episodes where things were going hard and heavy from the very first moments.

Although we tune in to Will Trent every week for a number of reasons, including how amazing the stories can be, we are always on Betty watch. And this week, we had to wait until the very end of the episode to get our Betty fix.

Considering everything that went down in "Breathe with Me," it makes sense that there was very little opportunity for us to see Betty early on. We had a retired police captain to save and a case to solve. With so much of our attention on saving Faith's mom, we actually got an amazing episode that really gave us a better insight into who Faith is.

Will Trent gave us a very intense episode that ended with a Betty moment that reminded us of the importance of our dogs

By the time we get to our Betty moment of the episode, it is clear that the only way that the pup makes sense is as a bit of emotional support. So when Will literally picks Betty up and puts her in Faith's arms, it just worked. And him telling Faith that hugging Betty is what makes him feel better after a difficult day was perfect after everything that went down.

Seeing Faith take this moment to just sit in silence and hug Betty was so sweet. And it really did act as a reminder that our dogs can be our emotional support, even without us realizing it. We don't have to an emotional support animal to get emotional support from our pets. And in this episode we are reminded of that as Betty offers comfort to Faith.

We don't need Betty to be in every moment of a Will Trent episode. In a lot of ways, the way they utilize the pup makes the story better. They consistently make her a part of the story, without it being just a throwaway scene or moment. And that is why we are always on Betty watch.
