When it comes to an episode of Will Trent, we are obviously tuning in for multiple reasons. We are here for the cases, the relationships, the drama, and of course, the Betty. And in episode nine, “This Kid's Gonna Be Alright,” we did get three of those four things.
Will Trent was back after a one week hiatus, and sadly, this was a Betty free episode. There was honestly never a moment where it would make sense for Betty to be part of the episode. And not only that, but she wasn’t even mentioned. Considering the case that Will and Faith were working on, there was nowhere that they would be discussing Betty. Instead, the focus was on the murder investigation and the connections it had to an overarching case.
Will Trent gave us a case heavy episode that left us without a Betty scene
At one point, we honestly thought that we would get at least a small glimpse at Betty, as Will was headed home at the end of the episode. But, that’s not what happened. Because he never actually made it home. Instead, he had to help Faith’s son out of a very hard jam. In fact, he saved him from going to jail.
It was very interesting to see how this episode worked out, because it was as much a continuation of the overarching storyline as it was new cases that needed to be solved. The lack of Betty in this episode made perfect sense. Was it disappointing? Absolutely. But there was nowhere that she seemed to fit into the storyline.
I would love to see Betty really shine in the next episode of Will Trent, because having no episode last week, followed by an episode where we had no Betty at all, means that we are in a bit of a Betty watch slump.
