Why Huckleberry Hound needs a reboot

As a kid, Saturday morning cartoons were something to look forward to. And many of those cartoons came from Hanna-Barbera. One character that has stood out as a favorite for years was none other than Huckleberry Hound.

In the cartoons, Huckleberry Hound is a blue Coonhound with a southern twang and a lot of personality. Not only that, but when it came to what he did, Huckleberry had a lot of jobs under his belt.

We would often see Huckleberry as a lion hunter, a police officer, a cowboy and even a knight, to name a few. Each job was unique, while also proving that Huckleberry Hound was ready to ride!

But over the years, it has felt like Huckleberry has been forgotten to time. While we can still watch old cartoons featuring this character thanks to MeTV Toons, that doesn't seem like nearly enough for an iconic character.

Huckleberry Hound lives on thanks to MeTV Toons, but we want more

Maybe it is me, but I would love to see a reboot of this series and this character. While Scooby-Doo has remained a popular Hanna-Barbera dog, there are others that deserve some love too. And of course, Huckleberry Hound is one of them.

This blue dog is charming and adventurous, with the right mix of personality to keep people coming back for more. And there has to be a way for another blue dog to steal the hearts of children and their parents. What better way to do that than with a character that could actually bring some nostalgia to the table as well?

I think it is time that more Hanna-Barbera characters get a new lease on life. And as a dog-centric site, we are definitely starting with Huckleberry Hound. After all, we want to see this southern pup back in action as a fireman and a sheriff. And if we could also get him back in the saddle as a knight or cowboy as well, then that would be perfect.

Bring on the Hanna-Barbera renaissance. We need more cartoon dogs in our lives and on our screens.
