On February 21, just outside of Denver, Colorado two Bulldog puppies were stolen out of a pet store after three men staged a medical emergency. It seems that one of the three men involved faked a seizure in order to keep people’s attention on the man in question, while someone else took the puppies out of the store. Considering the two Bulldog puppies were valued over $8000, we are not surprised to learn about this dognapping.
However, as of February 25, at least one of the Bulldog puppies has been recovered, according to NBC News. It seems that a good Samaritan returned a puppy to the pet store according to authorities. Apparently, the woman who found one of the stolen Bulldogs actually purchased the puppy from a vendor on the street for $1500. When she realized that the puppy was a match for one of the puppies that had been stolen, she reached out to the store where the puppies had originally been taken from.
It seems that the pet store was so happy to be reunited with the puppy, that they are planning to offer a reward to the woman who returned the dog.
It’s definitely sad to realize that this woman bought a puppy, hoping to have a new companion only to find out that the puppy was the victim of a dognapping. Obviously, knowing that the puppy was sold illegally to her, it simply wasn’t meant to be hers.
Bulldog puppy involved in pet store robbery returned
At least one of the men who was involved in the robbery, was apprehended. However, no new arrests have been made since then, which means there are still two more individuals out there involved in the dognapping.
Luckily, the puppy that was returned is doing well according to the person who owns the pet store. She explained that, “puppies are pretty resilient. He’s doing OK.” However, there is still no news on his brother who was also taken at the time. And we have no idea if that puppy was purchased by someone else or not.
This is not the first time that puppies have been stolen from this particular store in Colorado, in fact back on February 12, it seems that a Shih Tzu was stolen.
Based on the fact that this seems to be a more common occurrence than we ever would’ve expected, we really hope that the pet store finds a way to safeguard their puppies in the future. And hopefully that other Bulldog puppy finds its way back to the store or at the very least is taken in by someone who really cares for him.
