When it comes to Will Trent, while we love the show over all, we are also all about our Betty watch. We tune in every week to see exactly how the series will incorporate Betty into the storyline or if they will forgo these moments and focus on the cases.

In episode 3 of Will Trent, "You Don't Have to Understand," our Betty moment happened in the opening scene of the episode. This scene was all about Angie passing her physical in order to get back on the force after her attack at the end of Season 1.

Will is watching Angie do her test in support and of course, he has Betty with him. It was his opportunity to both be there for Angie and remind her that no matter what, they are a family. And that family includes Betty.

Was Betty needed in episode 3 of Will Trent?

The problem with this scene is that it almost felt like they were forcing the Betty moment. And we love seeing Betty, but in this case, it didn't feel like she was needed in the moment.

Of course, we will never be mad at getting a scene with Betty or the banter between Angie and Will over the dog and her affections. However, the fact that this was the only scene and we never saw the pup again made it feel like a throwaway moment that was done in service of those of us who are on the lookout for Betty.

Honestly, I really hope episode 4 does better by Betty because usually the scenes featuring her are really special or at the very least, they add something to the story, even in small ways. Betty is a major part of Will's found family and his interactions with her and the people around him in relation to her are always gems.

But what did you think of this episode? Did you think the Betty scene was a throwaway? Do you love watching for those Betty moments too?
