Season 2 of Will Trent has been an emotional roller coaster since the very beginning. We are six episodes into the season, and not only how we gotten some amazing cases, but we have also gotten some great looks at the personal lives of our characters. And one thing that has been an over arching theme this season is definitely the idea of family.

In fact, the sixth episode of the season is actually titled ‘We Are Family.’ And while it not only had to do with the case that they were trying to solve, it also revolved around Will’s first introduction to his biological uncle. In the opening moments of the episode, we get to see Will meeting his uncle with Betty at his side. But Will was not the only one who brought their dog with them, as his uncle did the same thing. Clearly dogs are important to Will and his uncle.

It was very clear that Betty is Will‘s family when you consider the fact that he included her in this introduction. And obviously, his uncle felt the same way, since he also brought his dog to this meet and greet. This idea was further cemented in the final moments of the episode, when Will not only brings his uncle and Nico to a family gathering at Ormewood‘s house, but he also brings Betty with him.

Will Trent continues to build on the idea of family and the importance of connection

This entire episode was about family. And Will Trent consistently lets us know that Betty is part of Will‘s family. It’s something that a lot of people seem to love about the series and it’s definitely something that we love about it. We love seeing how important his dog is to him. He brings her to so many places with him. Honestly, there have been times where he has brought his dog to work. And he may not be able to do that all the time, but it’s clear that anytime he can have his dog with him he will.

Will seems to rely on Betty as emotional support. And that makes sense considering he was an orphan, he was abused, and he didn’t grow up knowing where he came from. Betty has given him the start of what family looks like. And ever since he brought Betty home with him, he has been slowly building a family, even if he didn’t realize that is what he was doing.

This was another fabulous episode, and it definitely left us wanting to see more of Will’s growth. He is definitely changing as a person and it’s only for the better.
