We have exciting news for fans of Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent series on ABC!
It turns out that ABC believes in this series enough to renew it for a third season! And while we are not surprised by the love, we are excited by the news.
This renewal news comes a bit earlier than expected, as we have only gotten five episodes into season two. And we didn’t learn about the renewal for season two until the day that the first season aired its finale. According to TV Line, “Out of the five dramas that ABC has aired this TV season,Will Trent ranks No. 2 in audience (trailing only 9-1-1) and third in the demo (behind 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy).”
The fact that Will Trent is doing so well in the rankings, is great news. And it makes sense that the network would decide to bring it back for more. This means that not only will we get to see more GBI investigations, but the thing we are the most excited for is all the Betty watch moments. If you have been following our Will Trent coverage since the series premiere, then you know that we are all about those Betty moments! So we are excited to see even more Betty in season three.
While this does feel like a bit of an early renewal, since the season is only five episodes deep, it does make sense as the network has been handing down renewal notices over the last week. Other shows that have also gotten an additional season include the previously mentioned 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy.
Although we are excited for this renewal news, we still have plenty more episodes of season two to get through before we have to wait for the third season. Episodes of Will Trent air Tuesday nights at 8 PM ET on ABC, with next day streaming happening on Hulu.
