The New York Jets and New York Giants met for the Snoopy Bowl (What is the Snoopy Bowl?)
When looking up some info on Snoopy, one thing that kept popping up was "Snoopy Bowl." Even though I've covered the NFL in the past, I'd never heard of the Snoopy Bowl.
While the name is referring to our favorite Peanuts pup, this is a term referring to the upcoming preseason face-off between the New York Jets and the New York Giants. Since both of the teams utilize MetLife stadium, it's even cooler.
However, the thing that makes it the "Snoopy Bowl" was shared via Yahoo Sports. The article explains the name simply: "Clashes between the NFL’s two New York franchises – the Jets and the Giants – have become known as the ‘Snoopy Bowl,’ a nod to the mascot of the sponsor of the teams’ shared venue, MetLife Stadium." I don't know about you, but I've never heard of this term before, but I absolutely love it.
MetLife did ditch Snoopy in the past but in 2023 thought better of the decision and decided to use him as part of the brand's Pet Insurance promo. It proves just how iconic Snoopy is as a character and we love him for being a multi-faceted pup.
When was the Snoopy Bowl 2024?
Even though NFL games aren't our typical fare, this was worth a mention. For those who watched it, the Snoopy Bowl took place on August 24th. Serving as a preseason game for both of the teams, the winner ended up being the New York Jets. The Jets won with a 10-6 score over the Giants. Overall, the preseason isn't as accurate of a judgment on a team's abilities, as most teams are looking to figure out who is going to make the final roster to start the season.
While the Snoopy Bowl has already taken place, it was still something fun to talk about and something I'm sure a lot of Peanuts fans don't know about. As I mentioned, I have previously written about the NFL but hadn't heard the term before. Either way, it's a fun one and something to be on the lookout for when these two teams face off again.
Even if you're not an NFL fan, you can still enjoy all of the Peanuts and Snoopy content on Apple TV+ so at least, you'll get your fix somehow.
