When it comes to summer movies, nothing holds a candle to the live-action Scooby-Doo film. While it might not be the first movie that comes to mind, it's a delight.
Let me start by saying that I have already talked about how this is the quintessential summer movie and I still stand by that. However, the thing we're talking about now is that once the film was removed from Max, it was gone from streaming.
Thankfully, it's now streaming on Tubi at least at the time of posting, so you can relive all the gloriousness that is the 2002's Scooby-Doo. No matter if it's your first or 50th time watching the film, there's something new to appreciate every single time.
The other thing I wanted to make note of is that the sequel: Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed is also streaming on Tubi if you want to do a marathon.
2002's Scooby-Doo features one of the most iconic movie casts.
Even if you've never watched the film, you're likely to recognize the cast of the 2002 Scooby-Doo film as they're utterly iconic. I'm going to try to find a picture to include below, but the cast was made up of Freddie Prinze Jr as Fred, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Linda Cardellini as Velma, and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy. The entire cast also returned for the sequel which isn't always guaranteed and made the sequel all the more enjoyable.
Aside from having great chemistry and generally being amazing actors, this cast completely embodied the roles. While they did give the characters a bit more personality, each of them truly fell so naturally into these roles. With Freddie Prinze Jr, he played Fred as fun and dumb but also as the leader of the group. Sarah Michelle Gellar made Daphne smart and sassy which is something that hadn't been explored much.
Linda Cardellini did play Velma pretty nerdy but also fun which is something we rarely saw when it came to her character. Lastly, is Matthew Lillard and where to even begin? To put it simply, this man embodied Shaggy and did such a great job that he took over voicing Shaggy for Casey Kasem. I don't know any bigger of an endorsement than that because he's still voicing Shaggy.
All in all, if you haven't watched this movie for a while or are a first-time viewer, you will truly love and appreciate the cast of 2002's Scooby-Doo.
