Everyone loves Squishmallows. The adorable, cushy stuffie is soft, often enormous, and eminently huggable. So it makes perfect sense that the company would also make what seem to be absolutely perfect Squishmallows pet beds.
Released in four, adorable varieties by Jazwares Pets, the beds are pretty affordable, ranging from $35 for a 20" bed, to $44.99 for a 24" bed, and at the high end $59.99 for a 30" bed. And they feature iconic Squishmallows characters like Wendy the Frog, Beula the Octopus, Gordon the Shark, and Maui the Pineapple.
Not only that, but if you want to extend your Squishmallows/pet time to playtime as well as naptime, Jazwares also has two sets of Squishmallows squeaky plush dog toys. Both come with a pair of toys for only $9.99, with one featuring sweets Poplina and Diedre; the other sushi, Shozo and Shun.
Sounds great, you're obsessed, gimme now, etc, etc. If you're ready to make the Squishmallows plunge, you might have a few questions. Specifically, where to buy Squishmallows pet beds, and how to wash and clean Squishmallow pet beds. Good news: we've got you covered, so let's get into it.
Where to buy Squishmallows Pet Beds:
If you're looking to buy a Squishmallows Pet Bed, you could go right to the source: Jazwares has a dedicated page for both the beds and the toys where you can snag them at the prices mentioned above. Not only that, but as of press time the site offers free shipping at $35 or above, meaning you can have any of the pet beds right now, for no shipping cost.
If you want to save a couple of bucks and have that Amazon Prime shipping thing going for you, the site has a dedicated Squishmallows pet bed page. And while a cursory glance shows that they're not currently offering any steep discounts, the 24" Maui Pineapple Bed is currently 7% off. Oh, and if you're looking for the squeaky toys, they've actually got a different selection on Amazon, with a four-pack including the Sushi toys and two dinosaurs for $17.99.
Last but not least, if you do all your pet shopping at Chewy, they've got the four beds at the same price range as both Jazwares and Amazon. However, again as of this writing, if you spend $100 on the site you get a $30 gift card with the code NEWYEAR, as well as free 1-3 day shipping.
How to wash and clean Squishmallows pet beds:
You've made the plunge and snagged yourself a sweet new napping spot for your best boy or girl. Great job! Now, you've got to clean it. The main issue with the Squishmallows pet beds is that unlike other pet beds, it doesn't have a removable cover. Meaning it's gonna get gross and hairy, real quick.
Luckily, the folks over on Reddit at r/squishmallows have some solutions. Says user August_OvO, "Depends on how big it is. If it’s able to fit in a washer then either put it in a pillowcase or bed sheets and put it in the washer. It has to be in delicate."
Obviously this depends on the size of your washer, but when the initial user specified they had the large size pet bed, so it wouldn't fit in the washing machine, the following advice on how to wash and clean Squishmallows pet beds was offered, via Caspar. You can check out the full rundown there, but the short version is you want to pre-clean the bed, then soak it in warm water and detergent for about 15 minutes, scrub it with baking soda on a toothbrush to get the stank out, then rinse it again, and hang it out to dry.
Fun fact: you can actually do that with anything! That's what a washing machine and dryer do, just you're doing it by hand. You know, olde times style.
So there you go! You've got your Squishmallows pet bed, you know how to clean it, the only question now is: will there be enough room for your pet in there once you curl up and fall asleep in it yourself?
