When it comes to being a pet parent, there are certain rules you establish early on. And while some rules are broken over time, others are not. For some pet parents, your dog might not be allowed on the couch, or maybe you welcome your dog to sit at the dinner table too. Every pet parent is different.

However, that doesn't mean that we don't all have thoughts on what is essentially the great doggy debate. And when it comes to the furniture in our home, we all have our ideas on what is acceptable and what might be frowned upon.

But what do other pet parents think about dogs on the bed or couch? And what are there thoughts about dogs at the dinner table? Thanks to Talker News, some of these doggy debates have been settled! And that is thanks to a survey they put out in order to find out exactly how pet parents feel about things like dogs on the couch.

So what exactly did they find out about dogs on the couch? It turns out that 70 percent of respondents are fine with their dog getting up on the couch. (And while it wasn't specifically addressed, this likely means that they are also okay with them getting into chairs and recliners as well.)

When it comes to the dog getting into bed, 67 percent of pet parents said this was acceptable behavior. On the flip side, when it comes to dogs at the dinner table 70 percent of pet parents made it clear that this is a no! (And while chairs in the living room might be okay for the dog, if it is a chair in the kitchen or dining room, it is most likely a no, just like with them being at the table for dinner.)

Honestly, these findings are not that surprising, although we did find the the percentage saying yes to the couch and bed to actually be lower than we would have thought. All of this to say it sounds like the bed and couch are a pet friendly zone and we are here for that.

What do you think fellow pet lovers? Do these percentages surprise you at all?
