There are certain cartoons you watch as a kid and then can't seem to find anywhere. That's the case with 2 Stupid Dogs until now.
With the launch of MeTV Toons, 2 Stupid Dogs is finally getting back into the conversation and I feel like it's about time. Even though I saw it aired on Cartoon Network (rarely), it never got a timeslot like it does on MeTV Toons.
Lumped together with The Secret Squirrel Show and airing on Saturdays, 2 Stupid Dogs is finally coming back to the small screen. While the name might sound a little bit off the wall, it's truly the best name to use when you think back to this show.
MeTV Toons couldn't have picked a better description for the series: "A not-too-bright canine duo get into all sorts of mischief and trouble." Sounds like the most ideal way to describe this show and we're here for it.
2 Stupid Dogs is just as good as we remember.
Let's start with the history of the series. Originally released in 1993, the show was created and designed by Donovan Cook. The series featured the talents of Mark Schiff as the Little Dog and Brad Garrett as the Big Dog. As you can see, the show kept things incredibly simple by not even naming its characters and sometimes, that's best.
Additionally, the shorter episode length left fans wanting more and is part of the reason why it was combined with Super Secret Secret Squirrel. On the whole, 2 Stupid Dogs was funny, over-the-top, and sometimes, pretty stupid. However, sometimes you just want to turn your brain off and enjoy something.
While the series might not have gotten the love Ren & Stimpy did, it was such a solid series and one I've been wanting to revisit. The most surprising thing I found out when doing some research about the series was that it only ran for 26 episodes. It feels like the show ran for much longer, but I can see why it didn't have as many episodes.
Whether you have MeTV Toons near you or just want something mindless to enjoy, then we highly recommend 2 Stupid Dogs.
