Is Scooby-Doo! Haunted Holidays worth streaming this Christmas?
Scooby-Doo is one of the most beloved characters out there and it's surprising to learn that the franchise only has one "official" Christmas special.
Currently streaming on Max, Scooby-Doo! Haunted Holidays was released in 2012 and is one of the few holiday specials. If you're looking it up, you'll notice that it has a pretty short run-time and that's because it's only the length of an episode.
Rather than being the same length as other Scooby-Doo direct-to-video films, this one is a standalone "film" focusing on a Christmas storyline. Personally, it seems a little odd to me.
Either way, I can see why my fellow Scooby fans would be interested in this one and might think about streaming it around the Christmas season.
Is Scooby-Doo! Haunted Holidays worth streaming on Max?
Let me start by saying that if you're a Scooby-Doo fan and want some Christmas content, go for it as it has a compelling mystery and even, an appearance from Santa Claus. Plus it's a quick one so you can put it on and keep the kids entertained if only for a half-hour.
If you're not a big Scooby fan or are looking for a reason to purchase Max, then I'd say skip this one. It does have its charms but I feel like you could find better animated Christmas specials. I can't lie and say that I didn't want to love this as it seemed like a solid idea.
However, the short length of this special left a lot to be desired. I can only hope that Warner Brothers eventually decides to make a longer one. This felt more like an episode rather than a holiday special. Then again, maybe the company was looking for more short-form content.
On the whole, it's a good one but not great. Plus Scooby-Doo! Haunted Holidays only has a 6.7 rating on IMDB. Essentially, it's more middle-of-the-road and I can see why. Of course, I'd love to know what my fellow Scooby fans think!
