Is it just me or are you shocked that we're finally getting a Scooby-Doo anime? It feels like a Scooby-Doo anime is long overdue.

Announced at the Annecy Animation Festival, the series is going to follow the trainwreck that was Max's Velma. As shared via a press release from TVLine, Go-Go Mystery machine is described as such: "While visiting Japan on the ultimate foodie adventure, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo unwittingly unleash hundreds of mischievous mythical monsters that are now causing trouble all over the country."

Sounds like an incredibly unique and fun Scooby-Doo anime. However, the one thing I'm curious about is the lack of Daphne, Fred, and Velma. Maybe I'm just a fan of the classic Scooby gang but it does feel a little bit frustrating as we're not getting much Scooby projects at the moment anyway.

Either way, I'm not going to judge Go-Go Mystery Machine too harshly yet as I have a feeling that it's going to be a new and exciting chapter for the Scooby-Doo franchise.

Will Go-Go Mystery Machine continue the trends of the past?

When I first heard about this, I was immediately excited as Mystery Incorporated has a slight anime style to it. However, upon seeing that it just followed Shaggy and Scooby, it made me pause and think back to past Scooby-Doo projects. In the '80s and early '90s, there were some Scooby movies that just featured Scooby and Shaggy which were fine.

As I mentioned, I don't want to judge Go-Go Mystery Machine too harshly but it might end up being a great move for the franchise. Looking back, those early Scooby movies helped shape Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island which is easily one of the best Scooby movies ever. Maybe after this, we'll see another Scooby-Doo renaissance.

While that's a little hopeful given everything at Warner Bros, we're going to be tentatively excited. If anything, it might introduce a new generation to Scooby-Doo and that's always good. We can only hope that the series doesn't end up the way of Scooby-Doo! and the Mystery Pups.

Are you excited about Go-Go Mystery Machine? Let us know, Scooby fans.
