Garfield made it very clear why he hates Mondays in The Garfield Movie (2024) and it's relatable
If there is one thing we can absolutely relate to when it comes to Garfield, it is his disdain for Monday. And over the years, the Garfield comics have often pointed out the things that Garfield does not like about this particular day of the week. So it should come as no surprise that in The Garfield Movie (2024), there is an entire scene dedicated to our favorite orange feline's reasoning behind this lack of love for Mondays.
While Sony Pictures shared a teaser featuring this clip on YouTube, actually seeing the full scene on the big screen was everything. It was a reminder that Monday can be a difficult day for anyone and everyone.
Why doesn't Garfield like Mondays?
So what were some of Garfield's reasons for hating Monday? Well a trip to the vet didn't help. And the fact that the vet basically called him fat didn't help matters. Then there was the spider showing up while he tried to drink his morning coffee (maybe it was a cup of milk, but it was in a coffee cup so we are going with it), and that is so relatable. A spider ruins many a day for us.
The scene also saw one of my favorite moments, which happens to be Garfield getting a bath! Not only do we see Jon putting on his war gear, but the way Garfield reacts, one would think he was being tortured. Of course, the reason this part of the scene stands out is because after the bath, drying Garfield leaves him looking like a giant puffball of fuzz.
While Garfield looks extra cute and fluffy after his bath, we loved Odie's reaction, as he dropped his tennis ball in shock and stood there gaping at his friend. You can just tell that Odie has thoughts about his favorite fluffy cat.
You can watch a teaser of this scene below:
We really can't blame Garfield for hating on Mondays. They can be a hard day of the week, and some Mondays are harder than others. It was also really cute to see all the ways that Monday can be difficult for Garfield, even with him being a pampered kitty.
The Garfield Movie is a really cute and fun movie for the whole family. And this scene is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to enjoying the overall film.
The Garfield Movie premieres in theaters on May 23, 2024!
