While Beetlejuice has become a cult classic and a favorite film of many, there is no way anyone foresee how popular it would become. Of course, I'm sure none of us saw a sequel coming out in 2024 either.
Even so, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to hit theaters in September 2024. The other thing I wanted to note is that there was even a Beetlejuice animated series. Given how iconic the character has become, you might be wondering what else we know about him.
In particular, it's worth asking if Beetlejuice was a pet parent. While that might be an odd question, we at Dog O'Day have those types of questions. As you might imagine, Beetlejuice does not have a dog so we won't see him with a pet in tow aside from maybe a sandworm.
Regardless of that, there is a crucial detail that some might forget about from the original Beetlejuice film related to a dog.
Did you know Beetlejuice wouldn't have existed without a dog?
If you've watched Beetlejuice, you'll likely remember the crash that took the lives of Adam and Barbara. The one thing you might forget is what causes the crash. Right before the crash, a dog runs out into the road and Barbara swerves to miss it, resulting in the crash. While it's sad, it is the catalyst for the entire film and all of us meeting Beetlejuice so we can't be too mad. If I hadn't looked up Beetlejuice having a dog, I would have never remember that fact but rewatching the scene again, it's incredibly obvious.
The one thing I do have to note is that in the Beetlejuice animated series, Percy is the family cat so in a way, there is a pet in the series. While it's not Beetlejuice's, it is Lydia's so that does count. Either way, it was something worth mentioning as Lydia seems like the type of character who would know and love a black cat.
If you're looking to rewatch Beetlejuice and see Rocket as the catalyst of the film, then it is currently streaming on Max at the time of posting.
