If you're headed to Pigeon Forge Tennessee, it's likely you're going to be planning a trip to Dollywood and rightfully so.
Dolly Parton is one of those musical artists who has become an icon in her own right. It feels like she plans and executes ideas with such intention, so I had to wonder if she allowed dogs or other pets to visit Dollywood.
According to the Dollywood website: "Although pets are not permitted inside Dollywood (except for service animals), we are pleased to offer accommodations for dogs at Doggywood." While dogs are not allowed in the park, there is another option for those who want to bring their dogs along.
Doggywood does require you to have your dog's vaccination records handy while making a reservation online. Aside from that, you can try to get a reservation during your visit but there might not be availability so it's best to make an online reservation before you go.
What is Doggywood?
To pull it straight from the website: "Doggywood is located adjacent to Guest Services at Dollywood’s Front Gate. Space is limited and reservations are highly recommended." The website gives a few different options for your pup to enjoy. First are the Kennel Runs which are 4' x 6' and are priced at $25.00 a day. Then there are 4 cottages which are 5' x 5' and are $35.00 for the day. For a single cottage, your dog's total weight must be under 19 pounds.
In addition to paying the fee, you must also provide food for your dog(s), have updated vaccinations, clean up after your dogs, and walk them as workers are not permitted to do that. Honestly, it doesn't sound like a bad deal as you're able to have fun and even, take a short break to walk your dog if you need it. It's also worth noting that Doggywood is only for dogs and isn't for any of your other pets that might be tagging along.
Frankly, this is such a great idea and one that can really help out dog parents who might be in a bind so if you're headed to Dollywood, it might be worthwhile to check out Doggywood as well.
