When it comes to spring and summer trends for our pets, there is one thing that keeps popping up. And that is outerwear, such as raincoats for dogs.

According to the Be Chewy blog, it turns out that "high performance fits" are one of the top trends for spring and summer 2024. And that makes sense if you have been paying attention to the weird weather so many places have been experiencing this year.

Are raincoats for dogs worth it?

But the real question is whether or not the doggy raincoats are actually worth buying for your pet. In terms of the current raincoats on the market, they are all about being both wind and rain resistant, while also being comfortable and easy to put on. Many of these raincoats are designed to also keep your dog warm, as well as dry, which is an added bonus for a single piece of doggy outerwear.

Another thing that many of these raincoats for our pets do is make them more noticeable. Whether it is because of the color of the coat or the reflective strips you can often find on these raincoats, this is a great way to make sure that your pet is visible, even at night.

But does that answer the question of whether or not it is worth it to grab a doggy raincoat for your furry friend? Honestly, we don't know.

What I can say is that our staff pup, Ladybug, has a raincoat that we put on her whenever it even sprinkles outside. And it has made a difference in convincing her to go out to do her business. Ladybug is not a fan of getting wet unless it involves a swimming pool. But once she has that raincoat on, she knows it is time to get outside and do what needs to be done.

Ladybug might get her paws wet in the rain, but the rest of her coat typically stays pretty dry. And she never seems to have an issue getting into her coat or letting us take it off of her. The fact that her raincoat has ducks on it doesn't hurt either.

Honestly, we love the fact that Ladybug seems to appreciate her raincoat and that makes all the difference for us. It also means that we recommend a doggy raincoat for dogs that maybe don't love the rain all that much. But of course, your pup may not be as big of a fan of getting in and out of these pieces of outerwear as our staff pup is.
