August 26 is National Dog Day. And what better way is there to celebrate our pups than with a special treat? Luckily for us, there are actually a few different fast food brands that actually have special treats just for our dogs.

And while we also know of local spots that offer things like pup cups and little treats for their canine visitors (check some of your local favorites to see if they have a treat for your pup), for a more national look at places you can go to in order to spoil your pup, we have you covered. In fact, thanks to Instagram foodie Snackolator, we have eight chains for you that offer either an inexpensive treat or one that is totally free.

While dog day may be every day for us here at Dog O'Day, National Dog Day comes around just once a year. So why not spoil your pup this year with a treat or two.

8 places you can go to find a special treat for your pup on National Dog Day

So where can you go for a small treat for your dog on National Dog Day (or really any day of the year)?

  • Starbucks - Honestly, at this point we all know about the pup cup, which is a small cup of whipped cream that the chain offers for our furry friends.
  • Dunkin' - Did you know Dunkin' has what they call a Cup for Pup that is also just a small cup of whipped cream?
  • Andy's Frozen Custard - At Andy's you can get a free Pup Cone that your pup will love.
  • Sonic - Want to get a Wag Cup for your pup? They have you covered with this tiny vanilla soft serve for your dog. (Some locations will offer this for free, while others may charge a small fee.)
  • Rita's Ice - Also called a Pup Cup, this is a small custard with Milk Bone treats in it for your pup. (While I have seen these offered for free, I have also seen them with a fee, so it depends on your location.)
  • Culver's - It honestly depends on the location for this one, but at least at the locations we have visiting in Florida, they often had small dog biscuits for our pups. It never hurts to ask, as your pup may even get a small custard with a dog biscuit in it.
  • Chick-fil-A - Dogs are friends at Chick-fil-A so it seems like they always have a treat on hand. That being said, every location is different, and your dog could end up with a homemade biscuit, a Milk Bone treat, or even a tiny vanilla soft serve.
  • DQ - We love Dairy Queen, and we really love that we can go for a treat for ourself and still get something for our dog too. The treat may vary by location, but for about $1.49 you can get something small for your furry friend. And if you are really lucky, it might just be free.

Honestly, even at other chains and locations that have a treat for your pup, what you might get for your dog and whether or not you pay may vary based on where you are. I know that I have been pleasantly surprised any time I have asked for a small treat for our pup. In fact, at one point one of our local Dunkin' stores would even give our staff pup a plain Munchkin as a treat instead of the whipped cream cup.

It never hurts to ask if a fast food chain has a treat for dogs too, as you might just be surprised as what you find. And of course, your dog will appreciate the treat too.

Do you know of other chains that offer treats for dogs? How will you be spoiling your pup on National Dog Day?
