Have you brought home a new pet recently? Are you looking to find ways to better bond with your pet?
As pet parents, being able to bond with our animal is essential. We want to be able to have that connection with our dog or cat (or any other pet you might be bringing home with you) and sometimes it can take more work than expected. But luckily for us, we have the experts at Mars Petcare who are happy to help offer insight into the best ways to make a solid and lasting bond with our new additions to the family.
Especially around the holidays (including both Mother's Day and Father's Day), being able to connect with your pet can be really important in terms of making them comfortable. So what do our Mars Petcare experts suggest?
Tips for better bonding with your pet as a pet parents
One of the first tips that we were obsessed with was, "include pets in special meals." This tip makes perfect sense to us. But of course, they expanded on this idea by sharing that, "pets love a special meal just like us, so include your pets in your celebratory meals – consider adding in a new flavor, mix-in, or wet food as a special treat, or take them for a night out at a pet-friendly spot. For example, PEDIGREE DRIZZLERS is a mealtime sauce topper to pour over kibble, providing a convenient and affordable way to add extra flavor to mealtime for dogs. Just be wary of human foods, as they can lead to an upset stomach!"
Another tip that we appreciated was perhaps one of the more obvious ones, and yet that I think we sometimes forget. The tip was to simply "spend quality time together." According to the Mars Petcare experts, "Whether you’re going out to eat, picnicking in the park, or having a cozy day at home, it is important to spend some quality time with your pup If your dog is social, bring them along on your daily adventures (where possible). You can check out City Guides to help find pet-friendly destinations you and your pet can enjoy together. If your dog isn’t as social, simply cozy up for a snuggle session at home."
So what are some of the other tips they had for pet parents?
- "Celebrate your status as a paw-rent
- Plan a trip with your fur fam
- Match with your pet
- Make sure your pet has a place to retreat to
- Snap some pics together
- Unwind with an at-home “spaw” night."
Honestly, I love all of these tips. I think in a lot of ways, these tips do more than just allow you to bond with your pet. I think these things will actually make it easier for you to prove that you can be trusted to be there for your animal.
As pet parents, we want to give our animals their very best life. And being able to bond with them is definitely the key to making that happen.
