Raising Cane's is named after the owner's dog, and that's something he keeps near and dear to his heart. That's why this event with Raising Cane's and Lee Asher was too good not to share with my fellow pet lovers.

You might recognize Lee Asher from his TikTok account or the show, My Pack Life. The series followed Lee as he built an animal sanctuary for all the animals who needed care and a home. It ran on Animal Planet for one season in 2022, but Asher hasn't let that stop him from being an advocate.

Asher founded The Asher House, which focuses on working with animals that have been abused or discarded. The organization helps to find them a forever home, along with making sure they're cared for along the way. According to the website, they have "over 200 animals on our properties, including dogs, cats, birds, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, cows, horses, pigs, goats, sheep and even a ram." As you can see, it's a full-time operation.

That's why it was so awesome to see Lee step away and celebrate National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day with Raising Cane's on April 30. This also went hand-in-hand with Cane's Golden Plush Puppy promo, which was in honor of Cane's golden birthday.

As with most Raising Cane's events, it was a massive success and proved that giving back in the community is what makes a business. It's clear that this cause is both special to Asher and Raising Cane's owner, Todd Graves. The two are obviously huge dog lovers, and it's part of what forged a connection between the two. Sometimes, the simplest things are what make the best building blocks for friendship.

During the event, Asher spoke about his organization, which we acquired in a press release from Raising Cane's: "I think the reason The Asher House is successful is because the business is about the Community,” said Asher. “We show a Community of belonging and that it’s OK to love your animals and be obsessed with them.” No doubt that last sentiment is something all pet parents can understand. There is something about coming home and enjoying some quiet time with your pet after a long day.

Asher didn't come to the event alone, though. Of course, he brought along his wife, but he was joined by a few of his canine friends. Five dogs came along with him, which were "Patrick, Butters, Cali, Matilda, and Tommy." No doubt the pups stole the spotlight, which wasn't an easy feat, but they got their fair share of attention from those attending the event. It makes me sad that I wasn't able to attend and see of these pups enjoying themselves.

Even so, Raising Cane's continues to be an advocate in the local community and gives back to those who need it, like the pets in The Asher House. If you were looking for a reason to go to Raising Cane's, there it is. You're supporting a business that gives back, and you can feel confident about grabbing something for yourself and your pup while hitting the drive-thru.
