On April 18, Funko celebrated Superman Day with a very special release. That is because they unveiled a collection of POP! figures inspired by the upcoming Superman movie from James Gunn.
And while we were certainly excited about the collection overall, as a dog centric website, we were especially excited about the release of a Krypto POP! figure. While this is not the first time that the super pup has been brought to life in a live action format, it is the first time he is hitting the big screen. So he deserves the recognition of getting his very own Funko POP! figure.
As fans of Krypto, we were very excited to learn that he was going to be part of the upcoming Superman movie. It felt fitting in a lot of ways. But at the same time, we also have to admit that there has been a bit of negative press around our super pup. After all, James Gunn has specifically stated that the inspiration for this version of Krypto is a “terrible” dog that he had.

Whether you are a fan of the comic book version of the dog, the version we all saw brought to life on Titans or even the animated version we got to experience in DC League of Super-Pets, there is no denying that having a Funko POP! version of this character is amazing. He may not look exactly like he did in those other projects, but he is already super cute and we are ready to have him in our collection.
I personally love the fact that Krypto is in flight for his Funko POP! figure. It gives him motion and adds more character to his figure. And, it lets us know that he is a super dog, just like his owner is “super.”
