There are certain celebrities and famous people who seem to have an impact on trends. And this includes trends within dog breeds (or at least popularity trends). When Queen Elizabeth II was alive, her love for Corgis, led to an increase in that breed's popularity. In fact, her entire life gave a boost to the Corgi, because they were so closely tied to the queen. So it likely comes as no surprise that her son, King Charles III, has also helped give a boost to another breed of dog.
Recently, King Charles welcomed a new dog into the family. And ever since it was announced, it seems that people have been searching for information about these dogs. But what is this dog breed?
It turns out that King Charles' new dog is a Lagotto Romagnolo. According to The Times, a tool to help people "find a puppy" saw a 723 percent increase in searches for the Lagotto Romagnolo. And not only that, but during the recent Crufts event, a booth that allowed people to learn more about the different dog breeds saw an impressive number of inquiries over the breed.
What to know about the Lagotto Romagnolo

So what should people know about King Charles' newest addition to the family? Well it turns out that the Lagotto Romagnolo is actually an Italian dog breed known for being good at truffle hunting. In terms of their temperament, it seems that these pups are said to be very loyal and loving. These are excellent companion dogs and they also have relatively long lives at between 15 and 17 years.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, these pups can actually be very expensive, because they are also a more rare breed of dog. And that means that even if people want to bring home a Lagotton Romagnolo of their own, it won't be that easy. While King Charles might help to increase the interest in this breed of dog, that doesn't mean that everyone will be able to have one.
These pups look adorable and they also sound like they would be amazing family dogs. But at this point, it doesn't seem like they will have the same level of popularity as the queen's Corgis. That being said, anything is possible.
