Have you ever wondered what Garfield gets up to on New Year's Eve? Over the years, we have definitely seen Garfield get into some trouble. And, interest in this fluffy orange cat who loves lasagna has definitely increased since the new movie was released earlier in 2024. So it probably makes sense that we want to know all about his holiday shenanigans.
When it comes to specials for Garfield, we know about his Christmas special, the Thanksgiving episode, and even a Halloween episode. But what about New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day?
Sadly, it seems that Garfield is missing out on ringing in the new year in style. That is because he and Odie do not have their own New Year’s special.
Garfield is lacking a New Year's special!
Officially, there are 12 Garfield television specials. Each special is about 30 minutes long and they’re all based on the comic strips created by Jim Davis.
According to IMDb, some of the specials include Here Comes Garfield, which was the very first TV special released. The second special was Garfield on the Town, and then we have Garfield’s Halloween Adventure, Garfield in paradise, a Garfield Christmas, and of course, Garfield’s Thanksgiving.
Beyond the 12 primetime specials, there are a few other movies and releases that might qualify as special releases. However, even amongst those there is nothing specifically related to New Year’s.
However, while there are no specials dedicated to New Year’s, we do want to point out that there are one or two episodes in the animated series, Garfield and Friends, that did feature a New Year’s related story or theme. Considering there were seven seasons of the animated series, it does make sense that one or two episodes might focus on a New Year’s story. Specifically, a theme of Garfield potentially creating a resolution.
Honestly, we just want Garfield to get his New Year’s special. And here’s hoping that now that we have a new movie featuring Garfield and Odie, we might get new specials in the future.
