When it comes to the holiday season, things are notoriously hectic. Due to that, your dogs might be a little bit more sensitive to things than normal.

Coupled with people coming in and out, wrapping gifts, and cooking, there are a lot of different sights and sounds to take in. That's why it's great to have a plan in place to ensure your dog can feel festive without feeling the need to lash out this holiday season. Thankfully, Jessica Sims, a dog enrichment expert shared some tips with us.

You can find Jessica on Instagram at Dogs Made Simple. If you take a glance at her page, you can see that she has so many tips and tricks on the best way to ensure your pup is feeling happy and healthy this holiday season and beyond.

Since the Christmas season is here, we're sharing some of her best tips for making sure your dog has a smooth and safe Christmas and New Year celebration. Regardless if you're going out with friends or staying home, these tips are sure to come in handy.

Don't miss these festive tips for your dog this Christmas season.

Starting things off, Jessica suggests a "Jingle Jog" for your pup as a way to help them get some of their energy out. This can be done before any Christmas or New Year's celebrations so they will be calmer while things are going on. However, if Santa Paws shows up and leaves them an amazing gift, then there's no telling how they're going to react. Either way, that's a great start if you have the time and energy that morning.

The next tip is to give your dog a festive treat. Since we're all eating good, why not spread the wealth to your four-legged bestie? For a dessert-themed treat, why not make them some "pumpkin pie" puppy style? For that, you'll need to freeze layers of Nature's Recipe kibble, pumpkin puree, and some dog-safe whipped cream. From there, it will be your dog's turn to eat and lick the bowl.

The final tip is to create a "Winter Wonderland Retreat" for your dog. Basically, it's a safe and comfortable area for them to relax in. It's also important that it's quiet so your dog is able to rest without worrying about all the excitement going on. You can always add a fuzzy blanket and toys as a way to make it your dog's own.

No matter how you're celebrating this holiday season, it's always best to make sure your dog is ready for company. If they're not, it's probably best to either go somewhere else or make sure they're safe and comfortable away from everyone.
