Did you know The Addams Family had a pet lion?
When one thinks of spooky yet lovable families, The Addams Family always comes to mind. No matter which version you watched first, it's clear that this spooky family has been a favorite for decades.
For this post though, we're going to be looking at the 1964 show: The Addams Family. Featuring an excellent cast including John Astin, Carolyn Jones and Ted Cassidy, the show was a sitcom with a twist.
In looking at The Addams Family, I always wondered if they had a pet and no, we're not including Cousin It in this discussion. At first, I was thinking about It but he's family. With that being said, I tracked down a clip from the original series featuring Kitty Kat.
If you're wondering who Kitty Kat is, it is the family's pet lion who was featured in the original series and a few other more recent projects. However, there isn't much info out there about Kitty Kat's origins so let's just break down the clip.
See this fun clip of Kitty Kat from The Addams Family.
While the clip is definitely dated, it's still a lot of fun and something that is worth a watch. All in all, this clip showcases the classic yet kooky charm of the Addams Family. If anything, it could be a great one to show if you're trying to get someone into The Addams Family. As fun as that clip is, you might be surprised to know that Kitty Kat isn't the only pet featured in the series.
As shared via this quiz from MeTV, the family has a lot of other pets under its roof. Pugsley has a pet octopus named Aristotle while Wednesday has a spider named Homer. Then for a family pet, they have a vulture named Zelda. If anything, this makes me want to go back and rewatch the series to see just how many pets the family had during that time.
Continuing on, Wednesday also had a lizard named Lucifer while the family also had some piranhas which were a pair named Tristan and Isolde. Last but not least, the polar bear rug featured in the series also had a name which was Bruno. As kooky and creepy as The Addams Family was, it's nice to see that they're all pet parents in some way.
