We love feel good stories. And we especially love when those feel good stories include some of our favorite celebrities. This is why we were genuinely excited to see the news that Charlie Hunnam is now a cat dad times two.
Thanks to a Facebook post shared by the River Valley Animal Rescue (RVAR) in Momence, Illinois, we know that while filming in the small town for a few weeks, the actor grew attached to a very special pair of kittens. It seems that while in Momence filming (it is said that the Ryan Murphy series Monster was filming in the area at the time), Hunnam was getting to know the cats of RVAR.
According to the Facebook post, "After weeks of filming in our little town of Momence, Charlie Hunnam took every chance between takes to shower the cats at Oasis with love. Just like everyone who steps through our doors, he soaked up all the affection they had to give. He was a great sport about letting them climb all over him, snapped countless pictures, and even took the opportunity to FaceTime his lady to show off his favorites."
Charlie Hunnam adopts two kitties from RVAR after spending time with all of the rescue cats
And it seems that two of his favorites truly stole his heart. The two special kitties are named Gingerbread and Sugar Plum, and before leaving Illinois, Charlie Hunnam made the decision that those two special ladies would be going home with him. (Check out this link to see an adorable picture of Hunnam one of his new kitties cuddling at RVAR.)
Perhaps the sweetest thing about this post is that it is exactly like so many others on the RVAR page. It is not about the person adopting, as much as it is the kitties finding their forever home. That being said, we also love the fact that the rescue pointed out in the post that, "No matter who you are, getting two kittens to sit still long enough for an adoption photo is nearly impossible—even for this experienced CAT DAD!" Because these kitties were not about that camera life, they were about that we found our new home life.
Honestly, we love that two more kitties have found a new home. And hopefully, this adoption story will bring more attention to not only RVAR, but other rescues where both cats and dogs wait for their forever homes.
