It feels like October just started and we're already on our way to Halloween. It's truly come in the blink of an eye and before you know it, it'll be time for trick-or-treating.

Thankfully, Camp Bow Wow knows the struggle. As a doggy daycare and boarding facility, they deal with dogs and all kinds of problems every single day. That's why they were happy to share some tips for having a fun and safe Halloween season.

While it's fun to go out with our pups and enjoy the crisp Fall weather, it's also good to make sure that you and your pup are as safe as possible. These tips should help alleviate any of your anxieties about spending time with your dog during the spooky season.

The first tip is one that most ignore, but is very important and it's to not bring your dog along trick-or-treating. I know, I know, most people are walking door-to-door, but your dog doesn't know them which could cause an adverse reaction. It's best to keep them in a safe and contained area rather than risk something happening to someone at the door or have them with you while you're out.

Camp Bow Wow has even more smart tips for Halloween.

This next tip is one that I'm sure some of us are guilty of but it's to make sure your dog's Halloween costume is safe. To put it simply, ensure that your dog is comfortable and that nothing on their costume is a hazard for them to chew on. Additionally, it's always good to have your pup try the costume on and then you can either make adjustments or find a different one.

Moving onto the next tip, this one is something that most of us already know but is worth mentioning for those who don't think about it. With all the Halloween candy we tend to bring home, make sure to keep it out of your dog's reach. You don't want to come home to have them eating some chocolate or other candies they're not allowed to have. If it does happen, be sure to reach out to your vet or the poison control center as soon as possible.

The final tip is to make sure your decor isn't a danger to your dog. Most notably, make sure your dog doesn't ingest any candy corn as dogs can't eat it, and candy corn is just not good, so why would you want your dog to have it? All joking aside, these tips are something that might slip our minds while preparing for Halloween so be sure to keep these in mind for your and your pup's wellbeing.
