Which mythical creature would make the best pet?
Dogs and cats are well-known pets that most people have, but what about other creatures? What about the unicorns, dragons, werewolves, griffins, and phoenixes? Which mythical creature would make the best companion? Let’s take a look.
Unicorn
As unicorns are my absolute favorites, I have to start with them. They are magical, have a horn, and are pretty much a horse, so they are likely to make great pets and companions. And as they are mainly depicted as being gentle creatures, they likely won’t cause too much trouble, right?
But, as they also may have the spirit of a horse, when someone with bad energy is around, they will also be able to protect you.
Dragons
While dragons have been shown to be temperamental and…you know, the whole breathing fire thing, I still think they would make great pets. Once you form a bond with a dragon, they are yours for life (or at least according to Game of Thrones they do). And if you ever need to intimidate anyone, you really can’t go wrong with a dragon!
Werewolves
A werewolf is likely to be one of the most problematic pets to have considering they are only wolves part of the time. When they are human, you can’t make them a pet. I’m pretty sure that’s frowned upon and possibly illegal. It’s probably best to stay away from making a werewolf a companion. Let them roam free and howl at the moon.

Griffins
A griffin is another complicated creature. As part lion part eagle, it may be a dangerous pet, but like the dragon, once you form a bond with a griffin, they will be by your side for life. Just make sure you watch where their claws are at. And maybe take them to the vet to get their nails trimmed. Also, who knows, maybe with the wings they could fly you around town!
Phoenix
The hardest part of having a pet is that they eventually pass on, but you don’t have to worry about that with a phoenix. One day, they will burst into flames (which is horrifying), but then they rise from the ashes and are back again. It’s the perfect mythical creature to have as a pet!
