Owner gets stubborn dachshund to actually go for a walk
Dachshunds are stubborn. It is a cold-stone fact. Even my sweet AF dachshund will stop walking in the middle of the sidewalk and sit down when she has decided she is done walking. And she bis the most un-dachshund-like dachshund. Perhaps because of their stubbornness, one owner took a different tactic when trying to get his dog ready for a walk, and it’s pretty brilliant.
The owner of the TikTok account @archiethedapple recently posted a video of himself and his dachshund, Archie. Archie is not a fan of getting ready for a walk. But when his owner takes one of Archie’s favorite toys, puts a harness on it, and takes it for a walk instead, Archie is not having any of it. His buddy can’t go on a walk without him!
As you might imagine, this trick works like a charm, and Archie immediately grabs onto his toy and wants to go for a walk.
This way of training a dachshund or any dog to do what you want is pretty smart, and it goes along with what most professional trainers recommend. Toys, snacks, and active encouragement are the most recommended ways to train a dog to do a trick, learn to sit and stay, and in this case, get ready to go for a walk.

But it not only shows a great way for lots of people to get their dog excited to go for a walk, it also shows that, apparently, dachshunds can be trained! Who knew?! Other dogs may be more well-known for their attitude or behavioral issues, but the dachshund may top them all with their stubbornness.
It’s their cute faces that let them get away with so much, but don’t let that cute face, long body, and short legs fool you. Although, who am I to talk? My dachshund has ripped up a book before and I was snuggling her within a couple of minutes.
