The Washington Nationals and Pedigree team up for Pups in the Park
Everyone is a sports fan these days especially if you’re also a Taylor Swift fan yet the Washington Nationals and Pedigree are playing into the cute factor.
Given all the excitement around sports this weekend, the Washington Nationals and their newest “pitch” was completely overshadowed. As dog lovers ourselves, there was no way we weren’t going to talk about this.
Known as “Pups in the Park,” this was a collaboration between the Washington Nationals and Pedigree to put the pups at the forefront. Essentially, it was a way to showcase some adoptable dogs and hope they’re able to find their forever homes while also being a part of the “team.”
Whether you’re a sports fan or not, there is no denying that this shouldn’t have been so overshadowed as it was adorable and for a good cause.

The two also came up with a fun idea to get the dogs even more involved by creating the “First Fetch.” Completed by Cassie from DC’s Hero Dogs, she’s a service dog and had a ball pitched to her to “fetch” on home plate. Honestly, if that doesn’t sound adorable to you, then I don’t know what to say.
The fun didn’t stop there, though. The first 2,000 fans in the stadium were given their own “fur-st” edition baseball cards which featured fun facts about local adoptable dogs from the Humane Rescue Alliance. Sounds like a pretty fun time for pets and their parents alike.
In addition, Pedigree teamed up with Humane Rescue Alliance to waive all adoption fees over the weekend along with giving away a bandana to dogs who attended. It sounded like a fun affair for dogs and their humans alike. As a dog lover and sports fan, this would have been amazing to see. Alas if you missed out, there are plenty of fun clips to see online.
Regardless if you’re a sports fan or not, there is no denying how cute this all was. Hopefully, we’ll see other MLB teams do something similar. If anything, it should have helped a few pups get adopted which is always the goal.
