Unfortunately, there are so many senior dogs out there looking for their furever homes. Whatever reason they’re there for, it’s sad to think that any owner could abandon their pups at such a point where they might be in need.

Thanks to the Muttville Senior Dog Rescue out in San Francisco, California, many senior dogs out there are finding their furever homes and families that love them. Here’s the story of a bonded pair of Chihuahuas named Birkenstock and Teva.

This bonded pair of senior Chihuahuas is here to steal the hearts of many!

Before we get into the full adoption story of Birkenstock and Teva, here’s just a little bit more about the rescue, according to their website:

"“Sherri Franklin started Muttville in 2007, in her own home, to save older dogs…(NOW MUTTVILLE IS) A Model for Animal Rescues…Muttville’s cage-free facility (first in the nation), foster program, on-site veterinary suite, and hospice program are innovations that have been lauded and emulated around the country. Muttville has received the highest ratings from both Guidestar and Charity Navigator, the leading nonprofit watchdog organizations”."

With that all being said, Birkenstock and Teva seem to be in some seriously great hands!

This pair of bonded Chihuahuas, who definitely have a thing for shoes, are both Chihuahua-Terrier mixes that are right around 8 years-old. One pup weighs nine pounds, and the other one 11.

According to their profile, they are the best of buddies and cannot wait to show their forever owner their secret little handshake! Now, come on…how cute is that?!

They also threw in a little blurb from their current foster home. Here it is:

"“Birkenstock and Teva are the bestest bros! They are great on leash, they are house trained, and they love to check themselves out in the mirror and admire their beauty… can see their personalities coming out more and more each day as they get to know me. They are very food motivated, although they don’t seem to know any tricks yet. I haven’t seen them play with toys but they love their belly rubs and pets. And when not inside they can be found enjoying car rides, walks, or long hikes…They are two really sweet, loving dogs”."

There are so many adorable pictures of the two of them up on Muttville’s website, so definitely go and check those out!

No matter what, at the end of the night, Birkenstock just loves to curl up underneath a blanket, and Teva is obsessed with his tiny little dog ned (nearby Birkenstock, of course). Just know that, should you choose to adopt these bestest of bros, that you certainly won’t be disappointed!

That was the adoption story of Birkenstock and Teva, the adorable bonded pair of Chihuahuas from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue! All too often, these older pups are abandoned at a time of need, or sometimes their owners have passed away and they need to find a new furever home. Whatever the case may be, just know that they, out of any and all dogs out there, love the most!
