Every day it seems like we are reading more and more stories about older dogs looking for a new home. And one Senior Labrador is looking for a home after their original owner passed away.
We all know that older dogs have a hard time getting adopted. And that is something that many rescues, including the Lab Rescue LRP want people to know, especially as they deal with continued overcrowding and more and more older dogs sitting in shelters for months and even years on end.
One senior pup in particular is looking for a new home after they outlived their owner, and we can only hope that they are able to find someone who will let them live out their final years in comfort. According to Lab Rescue LRP, which is “a non-profit volunteer organization that rescues, fosters, and finds forever homes for abused, neglected, and abandoned Labrador Retrievers in the states of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina,” the pup’s name is Lily and she has a story to tell.
A Senior Labrador is looking for their forever home after their owner passes away
In a recent Facebook post, the rescue shared some details about Lily that have us thinking that maybe we should ditch that senior moniker.
"You know the feeling. When the AARP membership card arrives or you qualify for the senior discount at the movie theater. That’s how Lily² reacts to being called a “senior” because she doesn’t feel or look like one! This gorgeous gal outlived her owner and found herself homeless."
Lily is 14-years-young and ready for her next adventure. She is said to be looking for a single family home, and a fence is not required. It would be best if any children in the home were over 10-years-old, and other dogs are okay. Honestly, the rescue just wants this pup to find the right family for her, as she has already suffered a terrible loss.

Honestly, if we could bring Lily home with us, we totally would. She deserves the very best home where she can enjoy a cozy bed and plenty of love. We all know that Labradors are loving companions, and we can only imagine that this pup would be an amazing addition in anyone’s home.
And if you really are serious about bringing Lily home with you, you can check out the adoption process here.
We hope Lily finds her forever home soon, and that she finds someone who will spoil her with all the affection she deserves.
