Shriners Hospital for Children is all about making sure kids get the care they need but sometimes, it’s not what you might imagine.
That’s exactly the case with Shriners Children’s Lexington which recently added a new resident to its halls. Chance is the hospital’s new therapy pup with a somewhat tragic yet hopeful story about how he came to be in the position he’s in.
When I first heard his story and saw his pic, I knew I wanted to talk about Chance. Plus if you saw his picture above or the one below, you’ll see that he’s such a good boy. I mean how could you not want to spend your days with him?
Thankfully, it seems like Chance is going to be at Shriners Children’s Lexington for the long haul and will be lifting kids’ spirits among much more during his tenure there.
Meet Chance, the new therapy pup at Shriners Children’s Lexington!
While Chance has dealt with a lot in his life including the loss of his left leg, shoulder, and collarbone, he has a new lease on life now. As a therapy dog, Chance helps to comfort kids with limb differences and is going to be a support system for those who are dealing with limb loss.
In addition, Chance is just going to be a friendly and comforting face for the kids who need support or who need fun. While losing a limb is never easy, having Chance there will help kids deal with it and he can show that he’s still the best boy despite what happened to him. Honestly, I’m just tearing up, thinking about Chance and the impact he’s going to make on these kids which will be long-lasting for sure.
Hopefully, other hospitals decide to take the same initiative as it’s clear Chance is already making his presence known and felt by the kids. Seeing his face or getting to spend some one-on-one time with him will help put a smile on their face. Plus Chance gives the kids a chance to connect in a way that others might not be able to. If the pictures are any indication, Chance is already doing an amazing job.
