9-Year-Old French Bulldog gets new home after months at Dog Ranch Rescue

UNSPECIFIED, ENGLAND - MAY 06: (EDITORS NOTE: location unspecified for safety reasons) An illegally imported french bulldog puppy is being held at a quarantine facility on May 6, 2021 in an unspecified location in the United Kingdom. Dogs Trust have seen a marked increase by 66% of illegally imported puppies during the coronavirus pandemic as demands and street values have risen dramatically. Many of the dogs are imported from Eastern European countries, taken from their parents too young and enduring long and cruel journeys entering the U.K. under the current legal age of 15 weeks. Dogs Trust are calling on the U.K. government to raise the age of imported puppies to 6 months to make them less desirable and to also see tougher penalties for smugglers as currently only a handful of cases have lead to prosecution with minor penalties. Sometimes finding the perfect family for a rescue dog is a lot like looking for a needle in a haystack. Especially when the dog needing a new home is a senior French Bulldog. But luckily for one pup in Texas, a new home is exactly what they got.

According to Newsweek, a French Bulldog by the name of Doris needed a new home after their previous family had a baby and that baby developed allergies stemming from the pup. It was a sad and tragic situation and one that meant that Doris ended up at the Lone Star Dog Ranch & Dog Ranch Rescue in Anna, Texas.

While the rescue is better than a regular shelter, it is still not a home. And for months, it seems as if they were worried that there would be no new home for the French Bulldog, after all she is a senior dog (a breed that is known to have health issues) and one with some issues when it comes to being with other dogs.

However, luck was on Doris’ side. And a new family arrived in the most unlikely person.

A 9-year-old French Bulldog that lost their home over allergies ends up with a new family after months at a rescue

The thing about Doris is that she doesn’t really want to be in a home with other dogs. She is a solo pup and that means that whoever planned to adopt her needed to understand that it was only going to be Doris’ home.

As luck would have it, a young woman by the name of Clarissa Cardenas stepped up to the plate and contacted the rescue to inquire about Doris and another dog that was in their care. Cardenas wanted to help whichever dog needed her most and since the other dog was apparently already in the process of being adopted, this was Doris’ chance for a new home.

While Cardenas is in her 20s and some might worry about how she would handle an older dog with special needs, it seems that she knows exactly what all it entails when it comes to bringing home a senior pup.

In the end, this means that Doris the French Bulldog has a new family and a new home. And we love that for her.

Every pup deserves a home and we are so happy that this senior dog is getting to enjoy her final years with someone who will love her.
