It’s officially getting to that time of the year: the Dog Days of Summer! The weather’s hot, the sun’s shining. Some of us might like to venture out to the beach on these days or even take our dogs for a little brisk Summer walk.

No matter which it is, the number one thing is to make sure that your dogs are safe in the heat and of course, happy while doing so!

Here is veterinarian Dr. Lisa Chimes’ best tips for keeping your dogs happy and safe this Summer!

Dr. Lisa Chimes, world-renowned Australian veterinarian, has four main tips and tricks in order to ensure a safe, happy, and carefree Summer vacation (or just a day at the beach) with our pups:

  1. Stay Sun Smart: The sun’s UV rays affect our doggo’s like they do humans, so applying sunscreen on your dog’s pink skin and have quick access to shade is crucial
  2. Bring Fresh Water: The ocean’s salt water can cause sickness and dehydration; keep fresh water on deck for your thirsty pup – perhaps using the portable Corner Bowl
  3. Invest in a Dog Life Jacket: Even the most confident swimmers can be swept away by waves and strong currents, so investing in a life jacket will promote safety
  4. Keep an Eyes Out For Hazards: Checking the beach for pufferfish, jellyfish, corals, sharp rocks, glass, and other hazardous items is important to prevent any danger

If you take a closer look at Step #2, you’ll notice that Dr. Chimes has mentioned something called the portable Corner Bowl. A few years ago, Dr. Chimes started her very own dog care brand called DOG by Dr. Lisa. Here, she sells all sorts of doggy-related products, such as doggy wipes, brushes, vitamin care, and even doggy colognes! She also sells her portable Corner Bowls; when you buy a set, it comes with all sorts of goodies that are good to use along with it, including non-slip mats.

Her bowls also include a food bowl, a water trough, and a slow-feeder insert. It is 100% compostable and also 100% plant-based to ensure that there are no sorts of “plastic, melamine, PA, or phthalates”. It’s also stylish and can fit flush up against any wall, hence why she calls them the Corner Bowls. They are most perfect to use on your Summer fam vacations and beach days!
