Hersheypark is a summer tradition for some. Whether you’re headed to ride rides or enjoy some good food, you might be wondering if your canine bestie can join in on the fun, too.

Dogs are such a huge part of our lives that we can get sad about the idea of leaving them home alone. When headed to an amusement park especially, there is always the thought of leaving them alone for an extended period.

Even so, that brings up the question of if pets, including dogs, are allowed in Hersheypark. If you’re an avid visitor or just planning an upcoming visit, this might be need-to-know information for you and will help decide what your plans will be.

No matter whether you’re headed there for a day or a few, we’ve got the scoop on if your furry friends can join you.

Are dogs allowed to go with you to Hersheypark?

This didn’t take much research at all as it’s actually on the VisitHersheyHarrisburg website and it answers the question simply. As per the website: “No, only service animals are allowed inside Hersheypark. If you’ve brought your dog along for the vacation, they can stay in the “Barking Lot” located under the West Stand of Hersheypark® Stadium for a nominal fee. The Barking Lot is open during the summer season (May through September) during Hersheypark hours. Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations, including a copy of current Rabies vaccination certificate. Learn more on Hersheypark.com.”

As you can see, you’re not able to bring your pup into Hersheypark with you but that’s not to say you can’t bring them along in another way. The “Barking Lot” is a place to keep your dogs while you’re having fun in the park so they’re not home alone. It’s essentially a way to board your dogs without them being too far away.

If you’re headed to Hersheypark, it’s good to know that you’re able to keep your dog close to you while also enjoying the sun and fun of the park.
