Heading into the Season 1 finale of Will Trent, we knew that Will would be on the case as Angie is missing. But luckily, it looks like Betty might be the key to not only finding Angie, but also stopping a serial killer.

In previews of the finale, we saw Will doing the investigation into the crime scene in his own home. And it is a good thing that he does, as we see him walk step-by-step through what likely happened between Angie and the killer. Not only do we see her spoiling Betty with a spoonful of peanut butter, but we also see how the killer got his hands on her. And yes, she was trying to save Betty.

Luckily for the detectives and Angie, it seems that Betty also fought back and bit the killer, drawing blood. And with this also being the first scene of the episode, we now know exactly how Angie was taken. So,if ever there was a detective we would want on this case, it would absolutely be Will Trent. So knowing what we do, what’s next? And how does Betty help solve this case?

Will Trent solves the case of a serial killer with ties to his orphanage with the help of Betty

It turns out that Betty was helping Angie get ready for her work hearing to be reinstated as a detective. And after the attack, it seems that Angie hid Betty in the laundry basket where Will found his dog, and at the same time, she hid Will’s tape recorder with what details she had on the man attacking her.

With Will staying at Paul Campano’s home now that his home is a crime scene, that also means Betty is staying there too. And while Paul is trying to figure out the smell that the killer left behind on Betty after holding her, he points out to Will that he hasn’t even spoken to his dog or offered her any comfort. He immediately goes over to Betty and starts apologizing to her and promising to make it better.

In this moment, we are reminded that while Will Trent is a great detective, he is also a man who is hurting and doing what he can to not lose another person.

Throughout the episode, we watch him struggle with the knowledge that not only was his mother a victim of a serial killer and his boss knew the entire time, but Angie is in the hands of the same man who killed his mother. And while he figures out who the man is based on the evidence in his hands, it is actually thanks to Paul and Betty that everyone learns who the killer is, as Will has actually gone off on his own to confront the killer.

It’s all rather heartbreaking, as we get looks back at the past and the death of his mother, as well as him confronting this man who destroyed his chance at a family. Perhaps the best thing to happen is that Angie is still alive and Will Trent learned the truth about not only how he got his name but that he was wanted by both his mother and Amanda as a baby.

Next. Will Trent renewed for a second season which means more Betty to come. dark
