Prince and Princess of Wales’ Instagram celebrates Princess Charlotte’s birthday with a picture of her and their dog Orla

On Instagram, the Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated their daughter, Princess Charlotte’s birthday with some adorable pictures. While the first picture was posted on May 1 and was a preview wishing Princess Charlotte a happy 8th birthday, the second picture is definitely our favorite.

For her actually birthday of May 2, the royal family’s Instagram shared a picture of the young Princess as she cuddled with the family dog, Orla. The picture featured a very simple caption, “Thank you for all the birthday wishes.” And is basically a gift to the royal family’s followers.

We love the fact that they shared this particular picture because in 2022 the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a similar image for her 7th birthday (she is even wearing the same color in both pictures, even if the tops are different). At the time, we got a picture of Princess Charlotte hugging Orla as the pup looked off into the distance.

In both pictures, Orla looks calm and regal, staring at something off camera with a very focused intensity (who else thinks there were treats sitting right out of frame?) while her Princess hugs her with a wide smile on her face. Not only is this a sweet way to celebrate Princess Charlotte on her birthday, but we love the fact that the pictures are a glimpse at the difference one year makes for both a young girl and her dog. (Although at this point, Orla truly does look the same.)

We love getting these tiny glimpses into the lives of the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as their small family. And at the same time, we are always happy to see pictures of any royal dogs.

Hopefully, they will continue the tradition and give us another picture of the Princess with Orla for her next birthday as well.
