Rescuing an animal especially a dog isn’t an easy decision. However, Ginny, a pit-bull mix from Kentucky, had a much harder time than imagined.

As cute as Ginny was, nothing felt like the right fit for her, and at age 5, she was a stray that was eventually taken in by Lexington Humane Society. From there, Ginny was put up for adoption and stayed at the shelter for a staggering 1,000 days.

No one gave up hope for Ginny including herself as the shelter eventually found a great fit for her. Despite that, it is a bittersweet feeling as she spent much time with the people who worked there and had a bond with them.

Due to that, the shelter decided to plan a special surprise for Ginny after everything she’s gone through and it’s honestly a dog’s dream.

Shelter throws amazing goodbye party for dog who is finally adopted.

As you might imagine, it was a bittersweet day for the Lexington Humane Society. Even so, they were able to give Ginny an amazing sendoff as shared by the shelter’s Facebook page: “Ginny and her adopter, Asden Davis were gifted food, toys, treats, and gift cards — “tokens of our thanks and appreciation for our girl and her new dad…” Honestly, it bring a tear to my eye to read that as I’m sure Ginny is happy to be out of her cage.

Along with getting a handful of new items, Ginny was given a special doggy sendoff. Every single person who met Ginny or knew her plight was part of her adoption. If that isn’t a feel-good pup story, I don’t know what is. It’s just so nice to see Ginny finally getting her happy-ever-after.

Additionally, the shelter decided to share a post the following day, showing off her empty cage which is amazing. While Ginny is just one of the dogs at the shelter, it’s amazing to see her getting her forever home. Shelter life isn’t easy, no matter the animal so seeing them get adopted is what we love to see.

There is something so heartwarming about this story and as someone who is a dog lover, I couldn’t be happier for Ginny.
