Chewy survey shows the impact of pets on their humans and more

Owning a pet is a privilege. That is something pet owners can forget. In a recent survey from Chewy though, pet parents had a lot of thoughts on their pets and the impact they have.

There is a reason why a pet is known as a man’s best friend or anyone’s best friend. If you have a pet, you’ll know the bond the two of us have and how special it is. Chewy did take things a step further though.

The company recently polled 500 pet owners and got their input on some questions and their thoughts on their pets. While that’s just a select group of people, it’s clear all of us fellow pet owners have strong feelings about our pets.

Let’s get into some of the stats shared from Chewy’s research and see if you agree or disagree with the majority.

A new Chewy survey shares insights into pet parents.

One stat that I couldn’t get enough of was that of the 500 pet parents surveyed, 84% consider their pet a part of the family while half considered them like their child. Others thought of them as best friends or even, their soulmates. Coupled with that, 96% of the people talked to shared that their pet is there for them no matter what’s going on.

Speaking of being there for you, 60% of people allow their pet or pets to sleep in bed with them while over half would give up a good night’s sleep for their pet. I’m sure all of my fellow pet owners can attest to that. Sometimes, our furry friends just want us to be as awake as they are. Even so, the stats that stood out to me most were the ones related to pets and having a partner.

Frankly, most of these stats don’t surprise me but 80% of pet parents shared that their pets were more excited than their partners to see them when they get home. A staggering 61% said that their pets were better at cheering them up than their partner. Over half also added that their pets were better cuddlers and were more affectionate than their partners. Those are some interesting insights for sure.

To me, there is just something undeniable about having a pet because they are always there for you. No matter what’s going on, they’re always there to make you smile and that’s something people tend to forget about. Whether you’re a new pet owner or have had them your entire life, you know just how much of an impact your pet can have.
