What’s the etiquette for bringing your dog to work?

Chewy recently released their pet etiquette guide for pet parents. And part of that guide focuses on bringing your pet to work.

So what exactly is the etiquette for bringing a dog to work? What does Chewy think is important when it comes to work and your pet?

According to the Petiquette Guide from Chewy, there are five main points of etiquette when it comes to work and your pet. And perhaps the most important point of all is actually knowing what your work policy is when it comes to pets. Do they even allow you to bring your pet to work with you? And if they do what are the rules? Are there areas that are off-limits to your pet? These are things that you should absolutely know before even considering bringing your dog to work.

Chewy reveals the etiquette of bringing a pet to work

So what are some of the other points that Chewy gave us when it comes to etiquette and work? Another major point is to make sure that your animal is on a leash, especially when they are meeting other animals in the office. And some thing that shouldn’t even need to be said, is that if your pet is not comfortable with others, they should not be in the office.

If you have an office where you work, it is a good idea to create a small space for your pet that gives them comfort. Think a bed, a place for them to eat and drink, and even a toy or two. The more comfortable your pet is in your office, the less disruptive it will be to have them with you at work.

Knowing that your pet cannot necessarily tell you when they need some thing, another point on the etiquette guide is to make sure that you are building breaks into your schedule that allow you to bring your pup outside as part of a potty break. Not only will this allow them to burn off any excess energy they may have from being cooped up inside, but it also gives them a chance to go to the bathroom. This break will also be good for you as they will help you with your focus.

We love the fact that chewy is giving us an etiquette guide that breaks down the importance of considering your pets needs when it comes to bringing them to the office. If you want to have your dog at work with you, it’s important to consider all of the angles associated with that. What I mean, is you need to consider your pets comfort, the rules of your office, and breaks.

While we love the idea of bringing our dog to work with us, it’s also important to consider other people and your pet. And we think this etiquette guide is a great reminder of all the things that need to be considered in order for your pet to be part of your workday.
