I’m sure we’ve all had a moment or opportunity to dog sit for someone. Usually before the owner leaves they’ll leave a note explaining everything or have a chat with you before they head out; however, for this one dog sitter, that wasn’t the case. After trying for several minutes, they couldn’t figure out the dog’s release word to start eating. What did the dog do? She patiently waited to eat her dinner. What she did next will certainly make you smile.

Meet Willow. She is a super sweet Golden Retriever who is so used to using a ‘release word’ before she starts eating.

The dog sitter posted the video of Willow patiently waiting to eat her food. People loved it so much that it gained over 7.8 million views with over 1.5 million likes!

Willow patiently waited to hear her release word before she started eating her food. My dog didn’t have a release word – he just dove right in!

Willow’s dog sitter began her super viral TikTok video by showing Willow sitting very patiently in front of her food bowl. What was she waiting for, you may be asking yourself? Well, she was waiting to hear her release word.

Here’s what the AKC officially had to say about using release words on your pups:

"Using release words is basically using “a word that tells your dog he/she is allowed to move.”"

Willow’s sitter wasn’t quite sure what her said ‘magic word’ was, but she definitely didn’t fail for a lack of trying. She tried things in succession, such as “Yes. Willow. Okay. Eat” and still nothing. Willow was just sitting there smiling, probably growing increasingly impatient, though she never showed that she was at all.

While the TikTok video only lasted roughly 32 seconds in length, it seems as if Willow’s sitter had been trying for at least a few minutes or so (good for Willow for having excellent self-control – much more than us humans can even say that we have). Even with a second dog-sitter presumably trying to get a hold of Willow’s actual owner, they weren’t able to figure out her magic word on their own.

Eventually, the second dog-sitter points to Willow’s food bowl letting her know and showing her that it was okay to eat it. This finally seemed to work because before the super abrupt end of the video, Willow is shown leaning into her very cute and adorable purple slow-feeder bowl!

The dog-sitter’s TikTok username goes as follows: @livcc2!

Good for you Willow! May we all have your extremely well levels of patience (especially when it comes to the temptation of food around us)! Would your dog have been as patient as Willow? Do you have a release word for your pup? Let’s chat, and as always…….Woof, Woof!
