The Puppy Bowl of 2023 has already come and gone. This year, Team Fluff won the Lombarky Trophy and took home the ultimate win! While the Puppy Bowl is all good, cute, and super fun to watch and keep track of, there’s definitely a deeper mission as to why this national TV event occurs every year. That mission is adoption!

Starting out with a pretty cool fact here: as you all know, every single pup playing and not playing that are highlighted in every year’s Puppy Bowl are available for adoption, and since 2005 every single pup has been adopted. Yes, that’s correct. The Puppy Bowl has a 100% adoption rate!

Did you watch the Puppy Bowl this year? Let’s share some of our fave highlights!

Just before the most anticipated sporting event in America all year (yes, that would be The Puppy Bowl) had begun, a news anchor caught up with the referee from said game. As we just shared the 100% adoption rate fact since 2005, the referee also shared that every single shelter that they’ve ever worked with, post-bowl, has come back and reported an increase in adoptions all around, regardless of the time of year.

Some pups come to shelters as a result of a natural disaster, in fact lots of the pups this year came from the most recent hurricane that happened mainly out in Florida, although all of the pups came from all over the country.

This year, eleven of the pups had special abilities, including Joey (lost his front legs and uses wheels) and Marmalade (deaf and visually-impaired), just to name a couple here.

In regards to the pups with special abilities, it’s actually much harder for them to get adopted in the first place. Many people see a pup with the tiniest little difference and that scares them and makes them shy away from adoption them. Just like any and all other pups, they just wanna find a family that will love them and take care of them until the end of time!

While Team Fluff did win this year, Team Ruff definitely gave them a run for their money and certainly did not make it an easy win by any means. And boy were the penalties flying, including Bo who decided to bathe in the water dish mid-game! How silly of him!

This year, making it the largest Puppy Bowl to date, there were 110 pups on the roster!

It was also a Puppy Bowl first as the game ended up going into overtime! Who would’ve thought?!

What did you make of the Puppy Bowl this year? Did you have fun watching it and did your most favorite team win (how could you possibly choose one)?
