It’s that time of year again. The time for the big game. Time for the Puppy Bowl. The 19th annual Puppy Bowl aired on Animal Planet, Discovery, and TBS this year and once again, Team Fluff and Team Ruff were put against each other to see who could score the most points.

Each Puppy Bowl, the field is filled with dog toys and the dogs on Team Ruff and Team Fluff must pick up a toy and run it to one of the touchdown zones. It seems easy, but when the other team is trying to stop you by stealing the toy, jumping on your back, or smelling your butt, it can be pretty difficult.

On top of the toys, there are also water bowls on the field so there are plenty of distractions. But the dogs this year were very focused. They grabbed a toy and ran for the goalposts like there were hiding from a mess they just made.

This year also featured two things that never happened before: a double touchdown and overtime! Near the end of the fourth quarter, it looked like Team Fluff was going to run away with the game. They had almost double the score. But Team Ruff got back into the game and scored 28 unchallenged points in a row. It was astounding. And as a Team Ruff fan, I was practically screaming at the TV in joy.

But in the last two minutes, things went wild. Two dogs scored together at the same time leading to both teams scoring and overtime.

Who won Puppy Bowl XIX?

While the double touchdown created a tie and lead to overtime, Team Fluff scored a touchdown in the final moments and ultimately won (much to my dismay). This means they have now won two years in a row. I really need Team Ruff to step it up next year so we can finally win. The final score was 87-83.

That being said, there were tons of amazing players this year and they are all available for adoption. So not only could you watch the dogs playing their hearts out, you can even adopt one of them on Discovery’s website. And don’t forget the kittens during halftime. You can adopt them as well.
