Author TJ Klune is asking for help in finding his dog who went missing after a trip to a local park. The dog, who goes by the name Hendrix, went missing after snapping his leash on a morning walk.

Fans of books such as The House on the Cerulean Sea, Under the Whispering Door, WolfSong, The Extraordinaries, and more will recognize Klune for his work at making people laugh, cry, and run the gamut of emotions. And now the author is asking for help in finding his beloved dog, Hendrix.

Hendrix is a German Shepherd mix who went missing on January 19 at around 7:30 A.M local time (in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area). Apparently the duo were out for a walk near Loriella Park when Hendrix decided to go for a run after some deer.

While TJ Klune did have Hendrix on a leash at the time, the leash snapped and the pup, who is wearing a chest harness that is red and black, was able to get away from his owner.

In a post shared to his followers on Facebook, the author explained that Hendrix is “skittish around people,” so he is asking that people not try to intercept him. That being said, if you are in the area and you happen to see the dog, please report it so that the pup can be returned to his father.

If you are a fan of TJ Klune and his books, you may already know what Hendrix looks like, as the author has shared pictures of the pup on social media in the past. He has also shared the dog’s story, as he was a rescue with a bit of a sad backstory who Klune found at a difficult time in his own life.

For anyone in the Fredericksburg or Spotsylvania area of Virginia, who may not be familiar with Hendrix or TJ Klune, here is a picture of the pup that may help if you happen to see a loose dog with a harness running around.
